A far cry from the Spanish gipsy girl image, this calm and peaceful work was mostly carried out in the little town of Sospel
in the very southeastern corner of France, only 3 miles from the Italian border and about 12 miles north of Monte Carlo.
Russell Flint painted several scenes in and around Sospel, 'Little Sewing Girl' being one of the most well known, due to it being published.
