This artist's work is of major significance to British art. His paintings show a view of the Northern industrial towns and the people who worked there, it stuck a chord, and captured the imagination of  the public. He declined many honours throughout his life, yet solo exhibitions at The Royal Academy produced record attendances. His original work has been sold recently for many millions of pounds, and his signed limited edition prints are highly sought after and proving to be a great investment; There are only 54 titles that have been published, most in the early 1970s.
